PROJECT PROPOSAL
The exhibit titled Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art will be on loan from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This collection includes paintings by Rembrandt and other Dutch Masters. It will travel to three cities for three months each in the United States; Dayton, Ohio starting on September 24, then going to Phoenix after the first of the year, then to Portland, Oregon in May, 2007.

I propose to examine the paintings from this collection. After careful review I will select ten for use as a matrix to paint a body of work based on the color palette of each Dutch Master painting. Pigments available during the 17th century exclusively will be used.

Each of the 10 paintings will be of my own personal style and subject matter. All will be painted using the techniques and materials set down by the Masters, ie; linen preparation, mediums, and pigments. This project will culminate May 2007 as an exhibit at the Lawrence Gallery in Portland, Oregon to coordinate with the opening of the Golden Age Exhibit at the Portland Art Museum.
